Check ICE Release Records

To find someone released from the ICE detention network after an Elmore County connection, search the immigration locator promptly and confirm what happened after local custody ended. Elmore County Jail has documented contract relevance, but it is a Sheriff-operated county facility rather than a permanent ICE facility. A person who leaves the local jail may enter immigration custody, transfer elsewhere, or later leave ICE custody. The locator has a limited recent-release window and excludes some people, so a no-result screen cannot prove release, removal, or absence from detention.

ICE Releases And Elmore

ICE’s Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, covers immigration detention. It includes current detainees and, according to ICE, people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. It is not a permanent release archive. It does not answer whether a state or federal criminal case remains, and it should not be used to interpret an Elmore County bond release.

Elmore County relevance is concrete but narrow. A 2023 ICE inspection reports that the Sheriff-owned Elmore County Jail began housing ICE detainees in 2009 under Enforcement and Removal Operations in Salt Lake City. The arrangement uses a U.S. Marshals Service intergovernmental agreement. The same report describes male and female detainees across classifications held for more than 72 hours. None of that makes the jail an ICE-owned facility.

A person’s departure from the county roster may thus mean transfer into immigration custody. It may also mean local release, IDOC transfer, another jail, or USMS movement. The local release record should identify the receiving agency when known. Search ICE only when the custody history or transfer record points there.

Search ICE Release Records

Open the official ICE Online Detainee Locator System. The identification-number route requires an exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth. Add leading zeros when an A-number has fewer than nine digits. The biographical route uses exact first and last name, country of birth, and an optional date of birth.

  1. Choose A-number or biographical search.
  2. Enter the exact name or nine-digit A-number.
  3. Select the correct country of birth.
  4. Add the birth date when using the name route and it is known.
  5. Record the displayed result and verify its scope.

Exact entry matters. A spelling variant, omitted leading zero, or wrong country can produce no result. Try documented name forms and confirm the A-number from a reliable case document. Do not make broad guesses about identity. ODLS excludes minors, so the absence of a child is an expected system limit rather than release proof.

No successful ICE locator screenshot was available in the manifest. The page remains text-only for this channel rather than substituting an unrelated image or fabricating an ODLS result.

ICE Locator Search Fields

The two search routes serve different evidence. An A-number is a unique immigration file identifier and is stronger than a common name, but the country field is still required. The biographical route is useful when the number is unknown, though exact spelling creates more chances for a missed match.

An ODLS result concerns ICE custody. It does not show that every local or criminal hold ended. Likewise, a no-result screen cannot establish community release, removal from the United States, or freedom from all custody. The person may fall outside the search scope, be beyond the 60-day release window, have transferred, or have data still moving through the system.

ICE Sixty-Day Release Window

ICE says ODLS includes people released from its custody within the preceding 60 days. Search promptly after an Elmore County transfer or suspected immigration release. Save the search date, exact inputs, and result. Once the window passes, ODLS should not be treated as a historical discharge archive.

For an older event, use immigration case records, attorney channels, ICE records processes, or documents held by the person. If the person first left Elmore County Jail for ICE, request the Sheriff’s booking and release record as the bridge between systems. Ask for the actual departure date, release or transfer type, and destination agency. That local record may establish ICE transfer even after the public ICE result ages out.

Important: “No result” has several causes. It is not proof of community release, removal, or absence from custody.

Time windows also prevent false comparisons. Elmore’s live roster was down during research, and no local release archive was found. ICE has only a limited recent-release view. The federal BOP locator has a different, longer historical scope. Use the channel that matches the custodian instead of expecting one portal to preserve every event.

Elmore ICE Transfer Route

The local contract history makes transfer language especially important. The 2023 federal inspection says Elmore County Jail opened in 1990, is owned and operated by the Sheriff, and began holding ICE detainees in 2009. ERO Salt Lake City oversees the documented relationship. The arrangement runs through a USMS agreement, which explains why federal and immigration custody can intersect at a county building.

A local roster disappearance still does not identify the destination. Call the jail at 208-587-9103 and request the Sheriff release record when exact proof matters. A departure to ICE is continued custody. A later ODLS release result concerns ICE custody ending. Those are two separate events and may occur in different places.

The official 2023 Elmore County Jail inspection is the source for the contract history. The screenshot capture failed because the source is a downloadable PDF, so no image is inserted. Its text supports relationship and history, not a claim about a current bed count or the present location of any named person.

Elmore ICE Detainer Effect

An ICE detainer or immigration transfer can make a local “release” easy to misread. The Elmore County Jail may finish custody on a county matter while another agency assumes control. The person has left the Sheriff’s custody but has not entered the community. The destination field in a local release record is therefore as important as the date.

This is the distinctive Elmore County release issue documented in Research Angle K. The jail’s ICE and USMS relationship means federal transfer is not a remote possibility that can be omitted. If the jail record names ICE, use ODLS at once. If it names USMS, use the federal docket and direct federal channel. If it names IDOC, use the Idaho state search.

A detainer is a request or legal basis for another agency to take custody. It should not be confused with a criminal conviction, a final immigration decision, or proof of eventual removal. Preserve the exact agency name and event wording. “Transferred to ICE” is accurate when supported. “Released” alone would hide continuing custody.

ICE DRIL Release Help

The ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line, or DRIL, provides basic case information at 1-888-351-4024. Research lists service Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern. DRIL is a useful fallback when ODLS inputs are correct but the result is unclear, or when current detention information needs confirmation.

Have the exact name, A-number, country of birth, birth date, and last known facility ready when available. Ask a narrow question about current ICE custody or the proper office. DRIL does not replace a legal representative and should not be asked to answer for Elmore County, BOP, IDOC, or a state court.

The ICE attorney resources provide another official route for authorized legal communication. Older release history may require records or case documentation because ODLS is not permanent.

Confirm ICE Release Scope

Confirmation begins with the custody that ended. For Elmore County Jail, obtain the local release or transfer record. For ICE, use ODLS within its window and DRIL when needed. If a federal criminal case exists, read the federal docket. BOP applies only to federal sentenced prison custody, not every person carried by USMS or held for ICE.

ICE release
Departure from ICE custody, which does not resolve every criminal case.
Transfer
Movement between custodians with custody continuing.
A-number
The immigration file number used for the strongest ODLS search route.
ODLS
ICE’s public locator for current detainees and a limited recent-release period.
Removal
An immigration outcome that must not be inferred from a no-result screen.

The Elmore County release search explains the local record, VINE, court, IDOC, federal, and ICE decision tree. Keep the conclusion narrow: which agency held the person, what event that agency reports, and where the record points next.

Note: Recheck dynamic contact hours and locator instructions before relying on them for a time-sensitive Elmore County ICE custody inquiry.
