Where Elmore County Jail Releases Go
Elmore County Jail, also called the Elmore County Detention Center, is the county’s central booking and detention point. A departure can lead to the community after bond, time served, dismissal, or another court-authorized release. It can also lead to continued custody with the Idaho Department of Correction, another county, the United States Marshals Service, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The release record should resolve that difference. Ask for the actual release date and time, the release type or authority, and the destination or receiving agency. “Transfer” means custody continued. “Bond” means physical release while the case proceeds, not dismissal or sentence completion. A court order authorizes release on the matter it addresses but does not erase other holds.
No unsupported outcome should be inferred from a person’s disappearance from a screen. Hospital movement, another warrant, and unusual dispositions require an agency record. The useful first question is not simply whether the person left Elmore County Jail, but what status followed the departure.
How to Confirm an Elmore County Jail Release
The correct local path begins with the jail rather than a commercial roster. Keep the person’s full name, aliases, date of birth or age, approximate booking date, and any case or booking number ready. These identifiers help staff and records custodians locate the right custody episode.
- Call the Elmore County Jail at 208-587-9103 and ask whether the person is presently held there or whether staff can confirm a departure.
- Check a person-specific Idaho VINE event. A release event and a transfer event have different meanings.
- Search Idaho iCourt in
Last, Firstorder and open the matching case to find bond, release order, dismissal, sentence, or other legal action. - Request the Sheriff’s booking and release record for the actual departure date, time, type, and destination.
- If the record names a receiving custodian, move to IDOC, the other county, the federal docket, BOP, or ICE as appropriate.
The Elmore County released-inmate search provides the broader cross-system path. On this facility page, the county jail record remains the anchor because it can show both the Elmore County exit and where the person went next.
Elmore County Jail Roster and Release Limits
The official Elmore County Jail page currently states that its roster is down and tells users to call the jail to verify current-inmate information. Research found no separate official 24-hour list, 72-hour list, release archive, stated update schedule, photograph flag, or post-release retention period.
The successful manifest capture below records that local notice. It is evidence of the roster outage and the official fallback, not a released-person list.
The county page also contains release, bond, property, and VINE information, making it the controlling operational source even while the roster itself is unavailable.
A current roster would still not be a durable release archive. If the county restores it, check whether it is current-custody only or has a real released filter before using it for a past departure. For now, direct confirmation and a focused record request are the reliable local routes.
Elmore County Jail Release Processing and Lobby Handoff
The jail gives unusually clear local guidance about the physical release sequence. Detention staff begin processing after they receive posted-bond paperwork and/or a court release order. The county warns that processing can take considerable time. Once the person is released, the stated meeting point for the bonding party is the jail lobby.
This sequence separates a legal event from the door-exit time. A judge may enter an order before detention receives or completes it. A bond payment may occur before staff finish checks and paperwork. Elmore County publishes no fixed release hour, weekend cutoff, or guaranteed duration, so the jail telephone is the proper real-time source.
Families should not travel based only on a docket timestamp or payment receipt. Keep the case number and bond details available, call 208-587-9103, and ask what staff can confirm. A delay does not by itself contradict the court record, and a release order on one case may coexist with another hold.

The Sheriff request form allows inspection or copies. State the person’s name and aliases, an approximate booking-to-release range, and the exact record elements needed. Ask for electronic copies when convenient. If identity is at issue, request the booking photograph separately rather than assuming it is attached.
Requesting an Elmore County Jail Release Record
A narrow description is more useful than a broad demand for all records. Ask for the booking and release record, actual release date and time, release type or authority, and destination or receiving agency. Include an approximate date range and known identifiers to reduce mistaken identity and unnecessary search work.
| Record element | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Name, aliases, and booking number | Which person and custody episode the record concerns. |
| Booking date and facility | When Elmore County custody began and where it was recorded. |
| Actual release date and time | When detention recorded the departure. |
| Release type or authority | Whether bond, time served, court order, transfer, or another basis applied. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether community release or continued custody followed. |
| Booking photograph, if requested | An identity image from the booking process, not proof of release. |
Idaho Code 74-102 governs inspection, copying, and fee principles. Charges may apply when work exceeds two labor hours, more than 100 paper pages are involved, or redaction is required. Current timing under section 74-103 differs for resident and nonresident requests. Ask for an estimate before fulfillment if costs are possible.
Disclosure is not automatic. Section 74-105 protects specified active-investigation material, victim or witness information, future prisoner movement, and correctional information where safety, security, or rehabilitation interests outweigh release. If material is withheld, ask for the statutory basis and whether public parts can be separated.
Bond and Property at Elmore County Jail
The county lists three bond methods: a bond agent, exact-change cash for the full bond, or Allpaid. A separate $10 Sheriff’s bond fee must be paid in exact change because detention does not keep change. The county explains that cash bond is appearance collateral, not payment that resolves the charge, fines, or the case.
Payment begins a process rather than proving a completed release. Detention must receive the necessary paperwork and perform release work. Keep receipts and case details, then confirm the actual departure through the jail or release record.
The published property rule concerns property released while a person remains incarcerated. The incarcerated person must sign a property-release form, and only the named family member or friend may receive the property after showing positive identification. That rule should not be expanded into a claim about every end-of-custody property handoff without direct confirmation.
Note: Bond fees, records-copy costs, and property procedures are separate matters and should not be combined into one release charge.
ICE and USMS Transfers from Elmore County Jail
Elmore County’s federal and immigration role is documented facility history. ICE materials state that the jail has housed ICE detainees since 2009 through an ERO Salt Lake City and USMS arrangement, including stays longer than 72 hours. A disappearance from the local roster can therefore mean immigration or federal transfer rather than community release.
Use the receiving system that fits the custody. ICE ODLS accepts an exact nine-digit A-number with country of birth, or an exact name and country with optional birth date. ICE says it includes current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the preceding 60 days, so a plausible transfer should be checked promptly. ODLS is not a permanent release archive.
USMS generally handles federal pretrial custody and transport, but it has no public historical person locator comparable to BOP. Use the federal court docket and direct agency or counsel channel. BOP is for federally sentenced prisoners and should not be searched as if it covered every person held locally under a federal arrangement.
The official BOP Inmate Locator image below shows the federal-sentence search path available when BOP custody actually applies.
A BOP result marked Released or Not in BOP Custody speaks only to BOP. It does not rule out Elmore County, state, immigration, or another federal form of custody.
Elmore County Jail History and Operator
Inspection records date the facility’s opening to 1990 and identify it as county-owned and operated by the Elmore County Sheriff. The same East 8th North building is described as the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center. ICE housing began in 2009, and federal inspection materials were published for 2023 and 2024.
Those facts explain why the facility appears in local, federal, and immigration custody research. They do not establish a current contract population, a daily detainee count, or a capacity figure, so none should be inferred. The operating agency remains the Sheriff for local jail and records questions.
The history also sharpens release language. A county-operated building can hold a person for a federal or immigration custodian. Physical departure from the building and legal release from the responsible authority are separate questions. The booking and release record, destination field, and receiving system should be read together.
Reading Status After Elmore County Jail
Different systems use different end states. An Elmore County bond release may never create an IDOC record. If a felony disposition produces state custody, IDOC may show In custody. Later, In community can mark prison departure into supervision, while Discharged marks sentence satisfaction. Those labels should not be substituted for the county jail’s own release type.
A VINE release event indicates that the participating source transmitted a custody-change event. A transfer event indicates continued custody. An iCourt order or dismissal explains legal action but does not supply the exact gate-exit time. The local release record remains the best source for the Elmore County Jail departure itself.
Federal terms also have narrow scope. Not in BOP Custody concerns BOP only, and ICE release does not resolve a state or federal criminal case. A precise answer names the custodian, the date, the event label, and any documented destination rather than using “released” as a blanket conclusion.
For a fuller federal custody distinction, the federal release records guide explains how sentenced BOP custody differs from USMS pretrial detention.
